This piece is the first in the set Sea Pieces
The next piece is As if the sea should part My river runs to thee is sold only in the set Sea Pieces, and is not available for sale as an individual piece.
The three vocal parts alternately ripple after each other in canon (like the River of the poem), come together in Sea-like solidity, or chatter playfully like Brooks. The word "Say" becomes an extended exclamation — perhaps a response to the sea's sparkling presence, perhaps a hesitation before posing the poet's request: "Take Me!" Like Dickinson's attention, the focus wanders impulsively.
My River runs to thee — Blue Sea! Wilt welcome me? My River waits reply — Oh Sea — look graciously — I'll fetch thee Brooks From spotted nooks — Say — Sea — Take Me!
