This piece was written in anticipation of persecution by the infamous ‘midgies’ on Rudsambee Company of Singers' 1999 tour of Northwest Scotland. In fact, Scottish midges do not make an audible noise, but I believe they would sound like this if they did.
Between each breath, all notes should be joined, with accents added where marked for that ominous effect of the midge near the ear. Each new part should stand out as it comes in - especially the soprano supermidge in bars 15 ff.
The midgies were worst at Achnashellach, incidentally.
Words
None! This piece is entirely hummed.
