Complexity:

A very simple and effective arrangement of the traditional carol. Soprano and alto move together with the words, and can be accompanied by the audience. The tenor and bass parts are built around repeating phrases that punctuate the piece with a series of joyful calls.

The carol can easily be sung up one tone in the key of G major.

The recording is by Rudsambee Company of Singers and is available on the album Out of the Christmas flame (RUBEECD004).

In dulci jubilo!With sweet gladness!
Good Christian friends, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice!
Give ye heed to what we say:
News! News!
Jesus Christ was born today!
Ox and ass before him bow
And he is in the manger now.
Christ is born today!
Christ is born today!

O Jesu parvule!O infant Jesus!
Good Christian friends, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice!
Now ye hear of endless bliss:
News! News!
Jesus Christ was born for this!
He hath opened heaven's door
And ye are blest for ever more.
Christ was born for this!
Christ was born for this!

O Princeps gloriae!O Prince of glory!
Good Christian friends, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice!
Now ye need not fear the grave:
News! News!
Jesus Christ was born to save!
Calls you one and calls you all
To gain his everlasting hall.
Christ was born to save!
Christ was born to save!
