You looked with favor, gracious Lord, upon your faithful nation.
And Jacob's fortune you restored unto its right condition;
Your people's sins did recompense and covered over their offense.
Hear what the Lord is saying.
For He is speaking peace to those who turn their hearts to hear Him,
And brings salvation very close unto His own, who fear Him,
That glory may dwell in our land, mercy and truth go hand in hand,
Peace, justice kiss each other.
His truth shall spring up from the ground, justice look down from heaven.
He wills good fortune to abound, earth's increase to be given.
Before the Lord goes Righteousness to make a pathway for His steps
Once more to pass among us.

Herr, der du vormals gnädig warst deinem erwählten Lande
Und die Gfangnen erlöset hast, das Volk aus Jakobs Stamme,
Das du vergeben hast aus Gnad deinem Volk seine Missetat
Und ihre Sünd bedekket.
Willt du denn zürnen immerdar mit uns ohn alle Maßen
Und deinen Grimm so ganz und gar über dein Volk auslassen?
Tröst uns, Gott, unser Heiland treu, laß ab vom Zorn und mach uns frei,
Die Ungnad von uns wende.
Es ist ja nah sein hülfreich Hand allen, die ihm vertrauen,
Die Ehre wohnt in unserm Land, das wollen wir noch schauen,
Die Güt der Treu begegnen muß, der selig Fried wird mit ein'm Kuß
Gerechtigkeit umfangen.
Vom Himmel schau Gerechtigkeit, auf Erden wachs die Treue,
Daß uns der Herr genädig sei, das Land mit Gwächs erfreue,
Damit dennoch Gerechtigkeit vor ihm mög bleiben allezeit
Und gehn im Schwang auf Erden.
